Small-production wines that are all treat, no trick
Adults have redefined traditional trick-or-treat fun, and October sends us searching for deep red cabernets or some spooky libation for an adult Halloween fest. Rising Wines Collective, known for its commitment to quality, has a few spooky wine incantations that will enliven your evening, banishing that fear of wines that go BLECH in the night.
Two black cats you want to cross your path… and your lips
Jessica Munnell of Wautoma Springs is one of our favorite winemakers, and even without Halloween vibes in the air, her 2017 and 2018 The Behemoth Reserve sport the image of Behemoth, a hind–leg walking, talking, vodka–sipping black cat who is smart, charming, and a bit of a devil. This Behemoth is also 100% Washington State Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon crafted into a wickedly enchanting red wine. Bristling with dark berry and cherry powder, spices, dried herbs with hearty acid, and tannin, that person dressed like Dracula will look for this kind of red.
Heed the crows!
Our Streetvine wines feature a black crow to herald the arrival of great wine. She even carries a corkscrew if you need a hint.  These wines will complement that sassy black Behemoth for the room’s rosé and white wine drinkers.
Streetvine Rosé of Syrah
Rosé is the perpetual crowd pleaser even at a Halloween gathering. Our Streetvine wine from Syrah, with its rich color after a cool morning harvest followed by twelve hours of skin contact, is a perfect choice. The anticipation builds as cold fermentation preserves a harvest of red cherry, tangerine, melon and brioche aromas. Crisp citrus and berry flavors, medium body, and a long finish make this a wine for those who couldn’t decide between the Frankenstein and French maid outfit… or why not both? It’s Halloween!
Streetvine Sauvignon Blanc
Crows are highly intelligent and may represent transformative positive changes. Our winged messenger leads you through the wine maze to a haunting Sauvignon Blanc. The color of Autumn straw, aromas of white pepper, ripe grapefruit, pears, and ginger begin the haunting. On the palate, grapefruit, orange cream, pear, and savory herbs resolve to a long, citrusy finish. Can a wine haunt you? Take off that Chardonnay costume and knock once for yes.
